LOCAL EXPERTS IN TOWN PLANNING

Capital Region Planning is the NSW arm of Canberra Town Planning, we are based in the Australian Capital Territory and provide a variety of planning services to the surrounding NSW regions. Since 2016 Capital Region Planning has been involved in a multitude of project and developments for a variety of government and private clients. These include preparation, submission and management of Development Applications for mixed use developments, residential developments, commercial, retail, seniors living, community uses and subdivisions (residential, industrial and business parks). We also offer provide expert planning evidence services to the NSW Land and Environment Court. Capital Region Planning also provide strategic planning services including rezoning of land (planning proposals) and strategic plan making services such as review of LEPs and DCP for local governments. Capital Region Planning also undertakes independent assessments of Council developments and controversial Development Applications on behalf of Consent Authorities. This work includes Development Assessment reports provided for Councillor determination or determination by NSW Regional Planning Panels.

Pieter van der Walt

Director, Senior Town Planner RPIA

A native of South Africa, Pieter is a qualified town and regional planner with more than 20 years’ experience in urban and regional planning, CAD design and geographic information systems, and has worked in a wide variety of arenas internationally and in Australia. Pieter has worked across a wide range of commercial, industrial, mixed use, aged care, and residential developments as well as on major transport and water infrastructure projects. Pieter’s experience includes strategic planning assessments, statutory planning and development approvals, community consultation, crown lease consideration and land demand analysis, development potential appraisal, and transportation and strategic urban planning.

Andrew Connor

Manager, Senior Town Planner

Andrew is a manager/senior planner of Canberra Town Planning. Andrew has over 13 years’ experience and knowledge of planning and development issues with expertise in both Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales legislative frameworks. Andrew has extensive experience managing and facilitating complex planning projects, studies and applications, held planning advisory and coordination roles on Design Review Panels and has provided expert evidence in the NSW Land and Environment Court.
